Our beef has been scheduled to go in for processing early January and will be ready for pickup near the end of January. Niemuth's in Waupaca is no longer in business, so we are going to Haen's in Kaukauna. They are USDA inspected, and only do vacuum wrap. They also can divide into an 1/8th for a smaller portion. However, since the cutting instructions have to be similar, we will still only sell a 1/4, and ask if you want an 1/8, find someone you know and can agree with the same cutting instructions, and go together on a 1/4. When the beef go in, turn in cutting instructions for each party.
Pricewise, it was hard to figure out. Feeder calves are at an all time high, surpassing $1500 for something that needs to be raised and fed for 18 months. So we didn't buy any this year and will only have 2 beefs that we bred of our own next time. Hopefully the market stabilizes next year and its for feasible to buy feeder calves. $5/ hanging weight and even more isn't uncommon right know. Being our base is returning customers and that we didn't buy any feeder calves at today's prices, we decided to offer our beef at $4/ hanging weight lb plus the processing costs.
Beef can be reserved on our online store @ www.caledoniacorral.com and look for our beef deposit item. Quantity is for a quarter, so put (2) for a 1/2, or (4) for a whole. $50 per quarter is required for a deposit which is applied to the purchase once the hanging weight is known. Thanks for your continued support.
